Dynamic storage and retrieval system for trays or boxes/pallets

System description:

The Dynamic Vertical Storage system is an automated customer order preparation system. It provides dynamic storage and retrieval of trays or boxes/pallets. In order to prepare an order, it can combine stored trays or boxes/pallets with trays or boxes/pallets produced just-in-time. It thus allows you to address concepts such as stock, minimum production quantity, just-in-time, etc.

It incorporates a 2-axis Cartesian XZ system that is very often used in industrial vertical warehouses. The functions and components are derived from real industrial components used in the logistics industry.

This Dynamic Vertical Storage System (ref. VL10), designed with the industry of the future (Industry 4.0) in mind, meets the main requirements for intelligent and evolving production methods:

  • Flexibility & Customization with the possibility of individual order preparation
  • IoT & Communications with RFID tag writing for the identification and traceability of customer order packages.

This automated system can be used independently with trays or boxes/pallets, but can also be integrated into the flexible ErmaSmart production line.

The main functions of the Vertical Dynamic Storage System (VL10) are:

  • Convey trays or boxes/pallets from the entrance to the gripping station, and possibly allow them to proceed to the conveyor exit in the case of just-in-time production
  • Deposit the trays or boxes/pallets in the specified vertical storage location (automatic placement or at a location specified by the MES) by associating the RFID number of the trays or boxes/pallets with the storage location number.
  • Retrieve the trays or boxes/pallets from the recorded locations to prepare an order with stock, checking that the RFID number of the tray or box/pallet entered is the one requested.
  • Remove the trays or boxes/pallets to the exit.

This teaching system is mainly intended for driving, system control, industrial maintenance, electrical engineering, automation, and mechanics activities.
