Presentation:
In fast food restaurants, an RFID-based location system allows servers to geolocate customers so they can bring orders to the right table. For these restaurants, the advantages of the industrial system save time with fast, error-free table service, as customers can sit wherever they want.
The components of the RFID Easel system are an educational adaptation of the real system and perform the same technical functions.
Composition of the OST (Object and Technical System):
- An easel equipped with an RFID tag
- An RFID reader placed on a table to read the easel number, communicate with the computer server via Wi-Fi, and transmit the data
- An order terminal for entering the order and the easel number
- A computer server for acquiring and processing instructions and communicating with clients in the client/server architecture
- A service terminal with a screen displaying the table layout and the order number
Generic educational activities:
The generic educational activities provided with the teaching system enable the acquisition of the following skills:
- Identify the functional and hardware architectures of a network (client/server architecture, IP address, port)
- Identify and represent the flow of information on the Internet (client/server architecture, IP address, port)
- Establish a Wi-Fi network connection (IP address, port)
- Acquire an understanding of protocols (command frame)
- Configure a communication protocol (command frame)
- Solve problems to ensure communication between different terminals in a computer network (IP address, port, command frame)
The teaching system will include scenarios simulating degraded situations, allowing students to develop their skills in troubleshooting and implementing corrective action procedures
