Virtual reality training module on construction site risks

Virtual Construct "Construction Site Risk Management"

Virtual Construct combines a hardware environment incorporating the latest 3D technologies with training scenarios designed in collaboration with training experts in the trades/technologies covered in the scenario.

ERM has begun developing a virtual reality training unit for the construction industry: "Virtual Construct."

This training unit is ideal for acquiring, consolidating, and assessing professional skills. It is intended for initial training, continuing education, and in-company training.

The first 3D scenes were developed on the theme of construction site risks and R408 scaffolding certification. Our library of 3D scenes is constantly being expanded. The training modules were designed with expert trainers, referring to official documents.

Virtual Construct integrates the Vulcan environment, a platform for real-time management of skills and associated indicators. It enables the management of learners and educational pathways, the monitoring of results, and integrates with existing ENT and LMS systems.

Virtual reality is increasingly used in industry in various ways:

1) Driving and piloting simulation

2) Optimization of industrial designs: Anticipating and preparing all operations related to the process and product during its life cycle

3) Ergonomic design of production workstations

4) Training in technical procedures and situations

Key strengths:

An offer tailored to different needs

Placing learners in situations in different contexts and original projects that cannot be integrated into a training platform

A virtual experience that is as close to reality as possible (head and hand tracking, virtualized objects, etc.)

A multiplication of learning situations to accelerate the development of professional skills

Practical activities carried out independently with the "right to make mistakes" without risk to the learner or the equipment

Individualized training with monitoring of the learning path (Vulcan training space)

Software module: "Construction site risk management"

Educational objective:

1) Immersion-based awareness of the dangers encountered on a construction site.

2) Learning analytical methods to identify hazards, manage risky situations, and secure workstations with PPE and CPE.

3) Validating the learner's knowledge through scenarios created by the trainer via the Vulcan platform.

Choice of mode:

Free mode: Progress through an unsecured construction site and experiment with risks.

Guided mode: Locate and identify hazards and secure workstations in order to limit and/or eliminate risk.

Assessment mode: Experience in guided mode but without instructions, penalties, and resolutions based on several criteria.

8 Workstations:

1) Formwork for concrete walls

2) Cutting formwork panels

3) Formwork for floor shoring

4) Receiving loads in the storage area

5) Cleaning and preparing formwork

6) Laying pipes at the bottom of the trench

7) Compaction of the formwork with aggregate

8) Topographic inspection of the platform

16 Risks:

1) Fall from height from the second floor floor

2) Fall from height into hopper

3) Collapse of formwork

4) Collapse of formwork

5) Collapse of storage

6) Sudden loud noise

7) Sharp tools

8) Fall on level ground

9) Elevated loads

10) Fall onto unprotected scaffolding

11) Toxic product

12) Burial

13) Objects falling from height

14) Collisions with machinery

15) Loud and sudden noises

16) Risk of intense vibrations
