XYZ Cartesian Pick&Place

System for placing pots/bottles in trays and parts on boxes/pallets

System description:

The XYZ Cartesian Pick&Place system is an automated system used to place pots/bottles in trays or to place parts on boxes/pallets. It incorporates a 3-axis Cartesian XYZ system that is widely used in industrial packaging and assembly operations. The functions and components are based on real industrial components used in the food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetics industries (jars/bottles) and the assembly industry (boxes/pallets).

This XYZ Cartesian Pick&Place system (ref. XY10), designed with the industry of the future (Industry 4.0) in mind, meets the main requirements for intelligent and evolving production methods:

  • Flexibility & Customization with the ability to package customized items to customer order
  • IoT & Communications with RFID tag writing for identification and traceability of customer order packages.

This automated system can be used independently with jars/bottles or boxes/pallets, but can also be integrated into the flexible ErmaSmart production line.

The main functions of the XYZ Cartesian Pick&Place system are:

  • Conveying the finished items (jars/bottles or gear bases) from the entrance to the packaging station.
  • In the "Packaging" configuration: Place the trays under the packaging station - Pack the jars/bottles into the trays to form a package
  • In "Assembly" configuration: Place the boxes/pallets under the packaging station - Place the reducer bases in the boxes/pallets
  • Remove the trays or boxes/pallets
  • Enter the information on the RFID tags on the trays and boxes/pallets for traceability purposes

This educational system is mainly intended for driving, system control, industrial maintenance, electrical engineering, automation, and mechanics activities.
