Virtual Construct "Electricity"

Virtual reality training module for electrical interventions

Virtual Construct "Electricity"

Virtual Construct combines a hardware environment incorporating the latest 3D technologies with training scenes designed in cooperation with experts in the field/technology covered in each scene.

ERM has developed a virtual reality training cell dedicated to the construction and electrical sectors: "Virtual Construct".

This training cell is ideal for acquiring, consolidating, and assessing professional skills. It is designed for initial training, continuing education, and corporate training.

The training modules were designed alongside expert trainers with reference to official standards and regulations. Our 3D scene library is continuously expanding.

Virtual Construct integrates the Vulcan environment, a real-time skills and indicators management platform. It allows for user management, learning path customization, and performance tracking, while seamlessly integrating with existing LMS and VLE platforms.

Key Features:

  • An offer tailored to various needs
  • Immersive scenarios in diverse, original real-world settings that are impossible to replicate in a traditional workshop
  • A highly realistic virtual experience (head and hand tracking, virtualized objects...)
  • A multiplication of learning situations to accelerate professional skill development
  • Hands-on autonomous activities with the "right to make mistakes" without any risk to the user or equipment
  • Personalized training pathways with tracked progress via the Vulcan platform.

Software Module: "Electricity"

The Virtual Construct electrotechnics module is an immersive VR simulation designed for electrical work training in professional environments. It offers several practical scenarios (replacing a garden light, a pharmacy cross sign, or a faulty floodlight). Each exercise immerses the user in a realistic situation where they must comply with electrical safety procedures: wearing PPE, equipment lock-out/tag-out, voltage absence verification (VAT/DDT), hardware replacement, and power restoration.

Educational Objectives :

- Develop behavioral reflexes in response to real workplace hazards.
- Validate practical mastery of strict regulatory procedures.
- Foster autonomy and a professional mindset on job sites.

Mode Selection :

Free Mode : The learner navigates in an open environment. Using the controller and inventory, they must independently select and apply the correct tools or PPE at the right time (insulating mat, safety harness, etc.).

Guided Mode : The exercise follows a strict step-by-step path. The user is guided by text instructions and dialogue with non-player characters (site manager, client) detailing the key steps to complete.

Evaluation Mode : The system continuously tracks the electrician's actions in the background across 4 criteria (Safety, PPE, Execution, Communication). The exercise concludes with a self-assessment checklist.

Learning Scenarios:

1) Scenario: Garden Lamp

PPE equipment, lock-out/tag-out of circuit breaker Q34 at the main board, Voltage Absence Test (VAT), and bulb replacement.

2) Scenario: Pharmacy Cross Sign

PPE equipment and harness, lock-out/tag-out of circuit breaker Q33 at the main board, Voltage Absence Test (VAT), aerial platform intervention to replace the sign, and self-inspection report.

3) Scenario: Floodlight

PPE equipment, lock-out/tag-out of circuit breaker Q43 at the main board, Voltage Absence Test (VAT), floodlight bulb replacement, power restoration, and site handover
